Vibrator Mounting Brackets

Choosing the best vibrator performance is certainly important. In a removable-vibrator application, however, choosing the right mounting bracket is a critical link between your vibrator and attached structure that will dictate how much performance you will derive from that vibrator choice. Properly maintaining the bracket also ensures that the vibrator achieves its maximum useful life.

Here are a few considerations when evaluating any vibrator mounting bracket application.
  • CONSTRUCTION: A vibrator bracket should be made from high quality, rugged materials and built to stand up to the strong forces produced by modern vibrators. Deca mounting brackets are designed to handle all compatible Deca pneumatic and hydraulic vibrators producing up to 7,800 lbs. of force output at up to 5,000 rpm.
  • EASE OF USE: A good vibrator mounting bracket should be designed to encourage easy installation and removal of the vibrator, for portability and shared vibrator use, readjustment, or maintenance.
  • VIBRATION TRANSFER: A good vibratory motor bracket should efficiently transfer the highest possible force from the vibrator to the corresponding structure. Each mounting bracket style offers unique advantages in terms of convenience and vibration transfer efficiency. Choose a style that meets your needs with the maximum efficiency in energy transfer.
MULTIPLE MOUNTING OPTIONS FOR MORE APPLICATION FLEXIBILITY
Deca vibrator mounting brackets offer a range of choices for secure mechanical attachment in portable pneumatic and hydraulic vibrator applications. These designs accommodate a wide range of industrial applications where you might want to move a single vibrator among multiple bins, casting forms, railcars, or other mounting locations.

Cradle-mount installation allows for a single vibrator unit to be shared easily among multiple locations equipped with a weld-on, bolt-on, or wedge-fit mounting bracket. The clamp-on cradle mounting style creates optimum convenience for adapting compatible vibrator units to multiple locations, without any need for a pre-mounted bracket.

CRADLE WELD-ON BRACKET
  • Our weld-on cradle lug bracket is designed to be mounted permanently to your structure, via a skip-weld technique.
  • It features a quick-release system via a single lug bolt, for easy vibrator engagement and disengagement.
  • When properly installed, a weld-on mounting bracket with lug-type vibrator attachment can transfer virtually 100 percent of the energy generated by the vibrator.
CRADLE BOLT-ON BRACKET
  • Our bolt-on cradle bracket is built with the same quick-release lug-bolt engagement feature provided by our weld-on bracket, but with the flexibility of “bolt-on” attachment.
  • This system is great for areas where the welding process is not practical or where a less permanent installation is desired.
  • When properly installed, a bolt-on mounting bracket with lug-type vibrator attachment can transfer from 95 to 100 percent of the energy generated by the vibrator.
CRADLE CLAMP-ON BRACKET
  • Our clamp-on or shoe-type cradle is also designed with quick-release lug-bolt vibrator engagement. It is most commonly used in the concrete form industry where a flexible, movable mounting system is desirable for frequent, repeatable use on specialty forms.
  • The bracket attaches to a flange, rib, or angle on the mounting structure using the hardened cup-point set screws provided with the bracket.
  • A properly installed wedge bracket can transfer approximately 85 percent of the energy generated by the vibrator.
CRADLE-WEDGE BRACKET
  • Our wedge bracket is ideal for applications where vibrators will be frequently repositioned, such as pre-cast operations or hoppers that require only intermittent vibration.
  • The mount is designed with a cast-iron wedge that slides easily into the female half of the mounting bracket.
  • A properly installed wedge bracket can transfer up to 90 percent of energy generated by the vibrator.
  • Where the female mounting bracket is worn - as can be the case in some railcar applications - it might be necessary to strike the top portion of the male mounting bracket with a non-metallic mallet to ensure solid engagement, for maximum energy transfer.
BRACKET MOUNTING CONSIDERATIONS
Choosing the optimum style for mounting convenience, speed, and efficiency in portable or non-permanent applications is just the first step.

Knowing where to position and how to attach those mounting brackets can be just as critical as vibrator selection for generating the desired outcome. GENERAL GUIDELINES - Choosing the right position and angle of attachment to maximize vibratory force is important in any vibrator application, regardless of the mounting style. But with mounting brackets that enable you to remove and reposition a portable vibrator unit, you will want to consider other factors beyond appropriate vibrator sizing and axis of vibratory force.
  • In general, attach the mounting bracket to a solid structural element - or a specially designed mounting plate designed to span structural elements - so the forces are evenly distributed through the structure and not on the more flexible walls of the bin, hopper, or form.
  • To the degree practical, consider accessibility for employees who will have to attach and detach the vibrator unit. Try to position the bracket and/or lug nut to make it easier for the operator to lift, place, and secure the vibrator unit as quickly as practical.
BULK MATERIAL HANDLING - Placement can vary depending on the size, shape, and contents of your bin, hopper, or silo. But if you are planning to share one or several vibrators across multiple permanently located bulk material storage vessels, seriously consider using a separate weld-on or bolt-on cradle mount on each vessel. This attachment style will provide more thorough transmission of the vibratory force than either a wedge-mount or clamp-on style mount.

RAILCAR APPLICATIONS - You typically have little control over the age or condition of railcars coming into your facility, so you might have to deal with worn or damaged female mounting brackets for wedge-type vibrator mounts. Keep a non-metallic mallet handy to ensure proper engagement of the vibrator into the bracket, where necessary.

CONCRETE POURING OR CASTING APPLICATIONS - Because different concrete casting forms will have different physical designs, they can require more careful consideration for proper bracket mounting. Take care that the force of the vibrator will be shared evenly over the full structure and not concentrated primarily on the skin of the form. Improper installation can result in fatigue cracks in the form itself. It can also generate undesirable effects on the contents of the form, introducing unwanted air into the concrete or segregating the components of the mix in one concentrated area.
